Character’s origin and backstory (Lore)

Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp Randall Fraser is the main heroine of *Outlander*, a literary series created by Diana Gabaldon and later adapted into a television series.

A 20th-century British nurse, Claire finds herself mysteriously transported back to 1743 after passing through an ancient stone circle in Scotland. She then discovers a world radically different from her own, marked by clans, political tensions and the conflicts leading up to the Jacobite rebellions.

Her encounter with Jamie Fraser, a young Scottish Highlander, profoundly changes her life. Their relationship becomes the heart of the saga, blending romance, survival, travel, historical conflicts and separations across time.

Claire stands out for her intelligence, her independence and her medical skills, which she regularly uses to help those around her in an era when scientific knowledge is far more limited. Her determined nature and her ability to adapt make her one of the most memorable characters in the Outlander universe.
