Origin and character background
Portgas D. Ace (born Gol D. Ace and nicknamed ‘Ace the Fire Fist’) is one of the most memorable and beloved characters in the monumental One Piece series, created by Eiichiro Oda. A spiritual brother to Monkey D. Luffy and Sabo, he is also the biological son of the legendary Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. Having eaten the Logia-type Devil Fruit Mera Mera no Mi, Ace possessed the ability to manipulate, create and transform himself entirely into fire, making him an elite fighter feared across all the seas. His tragic fate during the Battle of Marineford remains one of the most heart-wrenching and decisive narrative turning points in the history of the manga. Banpresto’s “Glitter & Glamours” collection aims to showcase the hero’s iconic silhouette and accessories, such as his famous orange hat adorned with smiley faces and his back tattoo depicting the Whitebeard emblem.
