Tony Tony Chopper is a reindeer who acquired human characteristics after eating the Hito Hito no Mi, a Zoan-type Devil Fruit. Rejected by both reindeer and humans during his childhood, he met Dr Hiluluk on Drum Island, and later Dr Kureha, under whose tutelage he furthered his medical knowledge. The official One Piece website highlights the importance of Kureha’s teaching in his medical training.
Chopper then joined Monkey D. Luffy and became the doctor for the Straw Hat crew. Thanks to the powers of his Devil Fruit and his research, he is able to take on different forms suited to combat, travel or medical care, whilst pursuing his ambition to become a doctor capable of curing all illnesses.
The ‘New World’ designation of this soft toy refers to the appearance Chopper takes on after the two-year training period separating the two major periods of the story. His design evolves at this point, whilst retaining the elements immediately associated with the character, notably his hat and his appearance as a small anthropomorphic reindeer.
