ONE PIECE - Monkey D. Luffy "Gear 5" - Figure Theorama Soul 18cm

From One Piece, this Banpresto figurine depicts Monkey D. Luffy in his Gear 5 transformation, a form he attained during his battle against Kaido in the Land of Wa. Part of the Theorama Soul collection, it takes the form of a miniature diorama, combining the character with background elements and the effects characteristic of his transformation. The display measures approximately 18 cm in height and 20 cm in width.

Luffy is depicted in his characteristic Gear 5 form, with his white hair and the swirls of steam surrounding his body. Banpresto presents him at the centre of a dynamic composition where the clouds characteristic of this transformation are seamlessly integrated into the scenery. The base features intricate sculpting designed to add depth to the scene and enhance the sense of movement characteristic of Luffy’s battles in this form.

The Theorama Soul range thus favours a more story-driven presentation rather than a figure simply placed on a stand. With a stated width of approximately 20 cm, this Gear 5 version takes up a prominent place on display despite its modest height of 18 cm, and particularly highlights the free-spirited, exaggerated and unpredictable nature associated with the power of Nika.

Character background and lore

Monkey D. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and has, since childhood, pursued his dream of becoming the Pirate King. The official One Piece profile currently lists a bounty of 3 billion berries and reveals that the Devil Fruit long known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi actually has another identity: the Hito Hito no Mi, Mythical Model Nika.

Gear 5 first appears during the Battle of Onigashima, when Luffy awakens his Devil Fruit powers whilst fighting Kaido. Volume 104 of the manga explains that Luffy, initially unaware of his Devil Fruit’s true name, christened this new power ‘Gear 5’ himself. This form allows him to fight with even greater physical freedom, altering his body and his surroundings in particularly unpredictable ways.

In the anime, this transformation is fully revealed in episode 1071, which aired on 6 August 2023. In it, the Five Elders reveal the true nature of the Devil Fruit: the Hito Hito no Mi, Model Nika, associated with the legendary ‘Warrior of Liberation’ and the Sun God Nika. Luffy then returns to battle with white hair, his trademark laugh and a fighting style in which the elasticity of his body seems to be limited only by his imagination.

This Theorama Soul figurine draws precisely on this visual identity of Gear 5 by incorporating Luffy into a composition of clouds and steam, designed to evoke the freedom of movement and exuberance that define this transformation.
