Origin and character background (Lore)
In the world of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy is the legendary captain of the Straw Hat crew. From a very young age, he has pursued one ultimate dream: to sail across the world’s most dangerous seas in order to claim Gol D. Roger’s hidden treasure and earn the title of Pirate King. Thanks to his body’s elastic properties, acquired after eating the Gomu Gomu Devil Fruit, Luffy overcomes obstacles with extraordinary creativity and resilience. Far beyond his raw power in battle, it is his deep love of freedom, fun and his companions that defines his adventure.
