Origin and character background (Lore)

Tony Tony Chopper is the doctor of the Straw Hat crew in One Piece. Originally, Chopper was a reindeer who ate the Hito Hito no Mi, a Devil Fruit that gave him human intelligence as well as the ability to take on different forms.

Rejected by both reindeer and humans because of his unusual appearance, he was taken in by Dr Hiriluk, then trained in medicine by Dr Kureha on Drum Island. These experiences fuelled his dream of becoming a doctor capable of curing all illnesses.

After meeting Monkey D. Luffy, Chopper joins the crew as their ship’s doctor. Despite his adorable appearance and sometimes naive nature, he can be particularly brave and use various transformations in battle.

With his iconic hat, his vital role within the crew and his endearing personality, Tony Tony Chopper has become one of the most popular and recognisable characters in the One Piece universe.
