From Naruto Shippuden, this Banpresto figurine depicts Konan, a kunoichi from the Hidden Rain Village and a founding member of Akatsuki. Part of the Noir Edge Collection, it stands approximately 22 cm tall and reimagines her iconic look in a darker, desaturated colour scheme.
Konan is depicted standing in the Akatsuki’s long black cloak, adorned with red clouds edged in white and accented by a vertical red stripe. Her hair, usually blue-violet, takes on a light grey hue here, characteristic of the Noir Edge treatment. The paper flower pinned in her hair has also been retained and features the same monochrome finish. Her orange eyes and the red elements of her outfit provide the main colour contrasts in the composition.
The sculpture features a calm and composed pose: one hand is visible in front of her torso, whilst the other remains concealed beneath the cape’s loose sleeve. Her red nails, shinobi sandals and serious expression complete this deliberately understated portrayal. This aesthetic allows it to be directly associated with the Pain, Zetsu and Tobi versions from the same Noir Edge Collection.
Konan is one of the founders of Akatsuki, alongside Yahiko and Nagato. All three grew up in the Rain Country, ravaged by conflict, before meeting Jiraiya, who taught them ninjutsu. The official Naruto website notes that Konan, Yahiko and Nagato jointly contributed to the organisation’s founding and initially shared the hope of putting an end to the wars ravaging their country.
Following the events that led Nagato to assume the identity of Pain, Konan remained by his side and became his right-hand woman within the Akatsuki. She is sometimes nicknamed ‘the Angel’ by the people of Ame. Her fighting style relies mainly on paper, which she can transform and manipulate to create weapons, wings or various offensive and defensive techniques. Her paper flower, visible in her hair and reproduced on this figurine, is one of her distinguishing features.
Following the clash between Naruto and Pain, Konan remains deeply attached to the memory of Yahiko and Nagato, as well as to their former ideal of peace. She subsequently confronts Tobi when he seeks to recover Nagato’s Rinnegan, going so far as to devise a strategy involving a considerable quantity of paper explosives. This confrontation highlights both her mastery of ninjutsu and her determination to protect the legacy of her former comrades.
