Banpresto / Bandai Spirits’ Ichibansho collection features a figure of Gaara measuring approximately 24 cm, inspired by his appearance at the start of *Naruto Shippuden* during the Kazekage Rescue arc. This MASTERLISE-style figure depicts the character following his ascension to the rank of Fifth Kazekage of Suna, in a restrained pose that emphasises his new status as a leader rather than his power in the heat of battle.
Gaara is depicted standing with his arms crossed over his chest, his gaze calm and turned slightly to one side. The sculpture features his short, dark red hair, his blue-green eyes rimmed with black, and the kanji for ‘love’ (愛) inscribed on his forehead. He wears his long burgundy outfit from the start of Shippuden, complemented by blue-purple straps and detailing around his torso and waist.
On his back is his iconic sand flask, reproduced with a beige, grainy surface, black inscriptions and a large fastening system. This element plays a significant role in the figure’s silhouette and is a direct reference to Gaara’s techniques, in which he uses sand both to attack and to defend himself. The pose, with his arms crossed, reinforces the image of a Kazekage who is now composed, in control and aware of his responsibilities.
Standing 24 cm tall, this figurine is designed to be displayed alongside the other Ichibansho models from the Kazekage Rescue Arc series, including Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, Kakashi Hatake and Deidara.
Gaara is a ninja from the Hidden Sand Village, Suna, who has carried Shukaku, the One-Tailed Demon, within him since childhood. Initially feared and isolated due to his status as a jinchūriki, he undergoes a profound transformation following his confrontation with Naruto Uzumaki. At the start of Naruto Shippuden, Gaara has become the Fifth Kazekage, now taking on the responsibility of protecting the village that had once rejected him. The official Naruto website specifically describes Gaara as the Kazekage of Suna and the target chosen by Akatsuki to capture Shukaku.
The Kazekage Rescue arc begins when Deidara, a member of Akatsuki, infiltrates Suna and confronts Gaara in mid-air. During the fight, Gaara uses his sand to defend the entire village against his opponent’s explosives. When Deidara launches a massive attack on Suna, Gaara diverts a large portion of his chakra to create a gigantic sand shield and protect the villagers, ultimately leaving an opening which his opponent exploits to defeat and abduct him.
The Akatsuki then extract Shukaku from Gaara’s body, resulting in his death. Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi and their allies eventually recover his body, but it is Chiyo who chooses to sacrifice her own life to bring him back to life using a reincarnation technique, aided by Naruto’s chakra. Gaara finally returns to Suna and resumes his role as Kazekage.
This Ichibansho figurine therefore depicts a pivotal moment in his journey: Gaara is no longer the lonely, unstable child from the first part of Naruto, but a leader prepared to risk his life to protect his village. His calm posture, crossed arms and sand flask directly highlight this new side to the character.
