Character background and lore
In the world of My Hero Academia, where 80 per cent of the global population possesses superpowers known as ‘Alters’, Shota Aizawa is an unconventional professional hero who prefers to operate away from the media spotlight. Under the pseudonym Eraser Head, he teaches with legendary strictness and ironclad pragmatism as the form tutor of Class 1-A at the prestigious Yuei High School, never hesitating to expel pupils he deems to lack potential. His unique Alter, known as ‘Erasure’, allows him to instantly nullify the power of any human target with a single glance, the effect ending as soon as he blinks. To compensate for his lack of direct destructive physical abilities, Aizawa has developed a formidable hand-to-hand combat style, based on extraordinary agility and the surgical handling of his carbon-fibre alloy capture scarves, establishing himself as an indispensable protector and a devoted mentor to the new generation of heroes in their fight against the League of Villains.
