Character background and universe (Lore)

Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is the main protagonist of My Hero Academia. However, he was born without a Quirk in a world where superhuman abilities have become the norm.

Despite this lack of power, Izuku has dreamt since childhood of becoming a great hero, inspired by All Might, who was then regarded as the Symbol of Peace.

His heroic instinct eventually caught the attention of All Might himself. All Might recognised in the young boy an exceptional desire to save others and decided to pass on his own Quirk to him: One For All. The films’ official website notes that Izuku was born without a Quirk before inheriting this ability from All Might.

One For All is a power passed down from generation to generation. It accumulates an immense amount of physical energy, but Izuku’s body is initially unable to fully withstand it. His first attempts to use it can therefore cause serious injuries.

His training at Yuei High School gradually enables him to learn how to distribute this power throughout his body and to develop a much more controlled fighting style.

As the story unfolds, Deku also discovers that One For All contains traces of and the abilities of its previous holders, which considerably increases his potential but also places an ever-greater responsibility upon him.

In *My Hero Academia: You’re Next*, Deku joins forces with Bakugo, Todoroki and the other pupils of Class 1-A in a society still deeply scarred by the war between heroes and villains.

A new threat then emerges in the form of Dark Might, a man who physically resembles All Might but holds a radically different vision of what a new symbol should be. The film’s official website confirms that Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki face off against Dark Might and the criminal organisation, the Gorrini Family.

This confrontation ties directly into the legacy left by All Might. Whilst Dark Might seeks to appropriate his image and status, Deku embodies the passing on of his values: saving others, inspiring hope and pressing on despite fear.

Xross Link Vol. 2 specifically highlights this period in Izuku’s journey. Combined with the Bakugo and Todoroki figurines, it allows you to display the three young heroes joining forces against the new threat in *You’re Next*.
