Origin and character background (Lore)

The Thing is one of the most iconic characters in the Addams Family universe. It takes the form of a living hand capable of moving independently and interacting with its surroundings despite having no body.

In the series *Wednesday*, The Thing accompanies Wednesday Addams to Nevermore Academy and becomes one of her most valued allies. Capable of spying, passing on messages and helping to solve various mysteries, it plays an important role in the young Addams’ investigations.

Although she cannot speak, The Thing communicates through her gestures and highly expressive body language. This distinctive trait allows her to develop a genuine personality, characterised by loyalty, humour and, at times, a certain sense of mischief.

Thanks to his unusual appearance and his close bond with Wednesday, The Thing has become one of the series’ most beloved characters and an instantly recognisable figure in the Addams universe.
