Produced by Medalist, this Banpresto figurine depicts Hikaru Kamisaki, one of the most talented figure skaters of her generation and Inori Yuitsuka’s main sporting rival. Part of the ESPRESTO – Ice Wings collection, this approximately 18 cm figure highlights the elegance of her routine and the sense of movement characteristic of figure skating.
Hikaru is depicted in the midst of her performance, her arms spread wide and her legs crossed in a dynamic pose. She wears a dark skating outfit, predominantly black and midnight blue, with a skirt in shades of purple, long black gloves and light-coloured tights. Her black hair is swept back by the movement, whilst her distinctive yellow eyes stand out particularly well in this interpretation.
The composition is complemented by a large translucent purple effect rising from the base. Composed of shapes reminiscent of feathers or icy wings, this element follows the skater’s trajectory and defines the identity of the Ice Wings range. This approach echoes the Inori Yuitsuka figurine from the same collection, whilst here adopting darker tones in keeping with Hikaru’s aesthetic.
Hikaru Kamisaki is a young figure-skating prodigy in Medalist. The anime’s official website describes her as the gold medallist in the Japanese National Novice B Championships in the ladies’ singles. She is nicknamed the ‘prodigy’ largely due to her programmes featuring jumps of a high level of difficulty.
Her career is closely linked to Jun Yodaka, a former Olympic champion in men’s singles who won gold in every competition he entered. After retiring from competitive sport, he secretly becomes Hikaru’s personal coach, a relationship that is not made public within the series’ universe.
For Inori Yuitsuka, Hikaru gradually becomes a role model to emulate on the ice. For her part, Hikaru recognises Inori as a true rival when she begins to improve to the point where she can compete in the same category. Their sporting rivalry thus becomes one of the key themes of *Medalist*, with each seeking to fully demonstrate their abilities at national competitions.
