Origin and character’s universe
Published in October 1962 by Marvel Comics, written by Stan Lee and featuring the legendary artwork of Jack Kirby, the comic book Journey into Mystery #89 delves deeper into the origin story of the God of Thunder. The story explores the complex dual identity of the crippled yet generous Dr Donald Blake and the haughty warrior of Asgard. As soon as the doctor strikes the ground with his wooden cane, it transforms into the mythical hammer Mjolnir, instantly restoring his divine powers to face Earth’s criminals.
This stunning piece from the Pop! Comic Covers collection captures all the power of the Silver Age of comics. The relief figurine faithfully recreates Thor’s retro action pose, complete with his gleaming winged helmet, silver breastplates and long, bright red cape in full motion. Positioned in the foreground of the exact replica of the historic cover of issue 89, this hybrid piece offers unrivalled collector’s appeal, establishing itself as an absolute must-have to adorn the bookshelf of any House of Ideas enthusiast.
