Meet Rantanplan, the famous dog from the Lucky Luke universe, with this decorative money box made by Plastoy. Standing approximately 16 cm tall, it transforms the Wild West’s clumsiest canine companion into an object that is both functional and decorative, perfect for a bedroom, an office or a collection dedicated to Franco-Belgian comics.
The money box recreates Rantanplan in his characteristic appearance, with his yellow and brown coat, long drooping ears and instantly recognisable, innocent expression. The sculpture retains the character’s deliberately caricatured proportions and echoes the humorous aesthetic developed in the Lucky Luke comic books.
Made from PVC, this money box can be used to store coins and small change whilst also serving as a decorative figurine.

Rantanplan is the famous prison guard dog in the Lucky Luke universe. He first appears in the story *On the Trail of the Daltons*, written by René Goscinny and illustrated by Morris, which was subsequently published as a comic book in 1962. He regularly features in adventures involving the Dalton brothers, whom he is theoretically tasked with keeping an eye on.
The character was conceived as a parody of Rintintin, the famous heroic dog renowned for his intelligence and exploits. Rantanplan is the exact opposite: he is known for misinterpreting situations, following the wrong leads and making absurd decisions. Despite this, his mistakes regularly end up helping Lucky Luke or inadvertently contributing to the capture of the Daltons.
His popularity eventually enabled him to move beyond his status as a supporting character. Rantanplan got his own comic book series, the first volume of which, *La Mascotte*, was published in 1987. He has thus become, alongside Jolly Jumper and the Daltons, one of the most recognisable comic figures in the Lucky Luke universe.
This Plastoy piggy bank directly draws on this identity by transforming the ‘dumbest dog in the West’ into a 16 cm decorative item aimed at fans of the series.
