NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS - POP Disney N° 1605 - Sally (Sketched)

This Funko POP! Disney figurine (No. 1605) depicts Sally, one of the central characters from *The Nightmare Before Christmas*, in a special ‘Sketched Deco’ version. Standing approximately 9.4 cm tall, this version reimagines the famous rag doll with a graphic design that gives the impression the character has just stepped out of a drawing or sketch.

The figurine retains the key features that make Sally instantly recognisable: her long red hair, her pale face criss-crossed with stitches, and her famous dress made up of patches of fabric in various patterns. The ‘Sketched’ finish accentuates the contours and details with deliberately irregular lines, creating a look reminiscent of a hand-drawn illustration rather than a traditional, uniform design.

This graphic approach fits particularly well with the aesthetic of The Nightmare Before Christmas, whose characters are characterised by deliberately irregular silhouettes and a gothic style reminiscent of hand-drawn art. Here, Sally retains her delicate and recognisable appearance whilst benefiting from a visual interpretation that differs from the classic POP! figures.

Character background and lore

Sally is a rag doll created by Dr Finkelstein, the eccentric scientist of Halloween Town. Disney portrays her as a character who struggles to find her place and who shares this sense of isolation with Jack Skellington. Despite being Finkelstein’s creation, she has an independent, intelligent and particularly sensitive personality.

When Jack discovers Christmas Town and decides to organise his own version of Christmas, Sally quickly realises that his plan is likely to lead to disaster. She tries to warn him whilst continuing to support him, but her warnings are ignored. This intuition, combined with her determination to act to protect Jack and the other inhabitants, makes her one of the most clear-sighted and courageous characters in the story.

Sally also seeks to break free from Dr Finkelstein, who tries to keep her under his control. Disney depicts her journey as that of a captive doll who gradually becomes a true heroine of Halloween Town and learns to pursue her own aspirations.

Her relationship with Jack Skellington is ultimately one of the film’s main emotional threads. Whilst Jack is fascinated by novelty and seeks to transform Christmas in the style of Halloween, Sally represents a more cautious and empathetic voice. Their relationship gradually evolves, eventually revealing the affection they feel for one another.

The ‘Sketched’ finish on this POP! No. 1605 particularly highlights the character’s handcrafted, stitched appearance, emphasising the lines, seams and patterns of her dress. It thus forms a direct complement to the POP! No. 1604 Jack Skellington Sketched from the same series.
