KARATE KID - POP Movies N° 2078 - Mr. Miyagi with Bonsai Tree

Meet Mr Miyagi, the iconic mentor from *The Karate Kid*, with this Funko POP! Movies No. 2078 figurine, which depicts him with a bonsai tree. This version highlights one of the most powerful symbols associated with the character and his philosophy, in the instantly recognisable style of Funko figurines.

The figurine captures Nariyoshi Miyagi’s distinctive appearance, with a calm demeanour and the small tree that directly evokes his approach based on patience, balance and self-control. The bonsai adds a particularly symbolic dimension here and sets this version apart from more combat-oriented depictions.

Presented in an illustrated window box, this POP! is an ideal collectable for fans of *The Karate Kid*, Mr Miyagi or the great cult film franchises of the 1980s. It pairs naturally with the various versions of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence from the same collection.

Origin and character background (Lore)

Mr Miyagi, whose full name is Nariyoshi Miyagi, is Daniel LaRusso’s mentor in *The Karate Kid*. Although he appears unassuming and reserved, he proves to be an exceptional karate master, guided by a philosophy in which technique cannot be separated from calm, discipline and respect.

His teaching method has achieved cult status thanks to exercises that at first seem unrelated to combat, such as polishing cars, sanding a floor or painting a fence. Daniel later discovers that these repetitive movements have enabled him to internalise the basics of karate instinctively.

Bonsai is closely associated with Miyagi. It symbolises patience, balance and attention to the simple things – values that reflect his teaching style and his outlook on life.

With his calm demeanour, subtle humour and role as a guide, Mr Miyagi has become one of cinema’s most iconic mentors. This POP! No. 2078 specifically highlights this more peaceful and philosophical side of the character.
