Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Pennywise, the Dancing Clown, is the main form adopted by a thousand-year-old cosmic evil created by writer Stephen King. In the prequel series IT: Welcometo Derry, the story delves into the small Maine town's past to reveal how this monster awakens every 27 years to feed on children's visceral fears. The bloody design captures the savagery and murderous insanity of the character's ritualistic hunts, symbolising the sheer terror that lurks beneath the sewers and behind Derry's dark history.
