Rediscover the iconic friendship between the Iron Giant and Hogarth Hughes with this POP! Super No. 2077 figurine produced by Funko. Inspired by the animated film *The Iron Giant*, this large-scale edition stands approximately 16.3 cm tall, making it taller than a standard POP! figure.
The Giant is depicted in his distinctive grey metallic silhouette, with his massive head, central crest and large yellow-green eyes. Hogarth is seated in the palm of his hand, creating a composition that directly highlights the difference in scale between the two characters and, above all, the bond of friendship that lies at the heart of the film.
This version belongs to the POP! Super range, whose figures generally measure around 15 cm, compared to around 10 cm for a classic POP! figure. It comes in a large display box numbered 2077, decorated in the film’s colours, allowing the set to be displayed with or without its packaging.
Released in 1999 and directed by Brad Bird, The Iron Giant tells the story of Hogarth Hughes, a young boy living in Maine in the late 1950s. After discovering a gigantic robot from outer space in the woods, Hogarth quickly realises that this impressive creature is not naturally hostile. A genuine friendship develops between them.
Hogarth helps the Giant discover the world around him whilst trying to keep him hidden from the adults, particularly the authorities, who regard this stranger from space as a threat. However, the government eventually takes an interest in its presence, placing the young boy and his new friend at the centre of an increasingly dangerous confrontation.
As their relationship develops, Hogarth teaches the Giant, above all, that he can choose what he wishes to become, rather than being defined by his origins or his destructive capabilities. This idea of choice, friendship and the rejection of violence is one of the film’s central themes; the film itself is adapted from Ted Hughes’s 1968 book *The Iron Man*.
POP! Super No. 2077 directly captures this relationship by depicting Hogarth safe in the Giant’s hand, a composition that emphasises their bond rather than a fight scene.
