Character background and lore

Harry James Potter discovers he is a wizard at the age of eleven before joining Hogwarts, where he is sorted into Gryffindor House. He quickly becomes one of the most famous young wizards of his time, largely due to his history with Lord Voldemort, but also thanks to his skills in Defence Against the Dark Arts and Quidditch.

From his very first year, Harry showed a natural talent on a broomstick and joined the Gryffindor team as a Seeker. In this role, his main objective is to spot and catch the Golden Snitch, a small winged ball whose capture earns 150 points and usually brings the match to an end. Harry thus becomes one of his team’s key players.

The Nimbus 2000 is Harry’s first proper competition broomstick. Brooms are both a magical means of transport and essential equipment for playing Quidditch; Harry goes on to use a Nimbus 2000 and then a Firebolt during his years at Hogwarts.
