Origin and character background
Nagini is the giant, deeply loyal female snake who accompanies Lord Voldemort in all his criminal endeavours. Mentally linked to her master, she communicates intimately with him through the Parseltongue language, carrying out his tracking orders with absolute cruelty. Endowed with a terrible, corrosive and fatal venom that prevents wounds from healing, she is sadly notorious for attacking Arthur Weasley at the Ministry and murdering Severus Snape in the Shrieking Shack. More than just a pet, Nagini turns out to be the very last Horcrux safeguarding the Dark Lord’s immortality. It is the courageous Neville Longbottom who manages to sever the reptile’s head once and for all with Godric Gryffindor’s sword during the final confrontation in the Hogwarts courtyard.
