Origin and background of the character
Neville Longbottom is a Gryffindor student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with a particular talent for botany. Born on 30 July 1980 to Auror parents, his story is closely linked to that of Harry Potter through Sybill Trelawney’s prophecy. Initially characterised by his shyness and clumsiness, he evolves into a formidable wizard and a pillar of the resistance against Voldemort’s forces. His second wand, acquired after the destruction of his first, accompanies him through the major battles of the Second Wizarding War right up to the final battle at Hogwarts.
