This Metallic Nano Puzzle kit from Tenyo allows you to build an all-metal replica of the SCV-70 White Base, the famous Earth Federation spacecraft from *Mobile Suit Gundam*. Once assembled, the model measures approximately 11.5 cm in length, 9.5 cm in width and 6 cm in height. Its compact size captures the White Base’s distinctive silhouette whilst showcasing the numerous mechanical details engraved directly into the metal.
Unlike a traditional plastic model kit, this model is made from thin sheets of steel that have been precisely engraved and cut. The metal sheets are approximately 0.2 mm thick, and the various parts must be detached, folded and then assembled by inserting small tabs into the corresponding openings. No glue is required to hold the structure together.
The kit includes three metal sheets and assembly instructions. A pair of pliers and a pair of wire cutters are recommended to cleanly separate the parts and carry out the various bends. The construction therefore relies on a technique similar to papercraft, but applied to thin steel parts to achieve a sturdier model and a particularly detailed metallic finish.
The White Base retains its characteristic appearance with its white central hull, imposing side structures, upper command post and various red, blue and yellow sections. The engravings reproduce the armour panels, openings, technical lines and various elements of the hull, allowing numerous details to be distinguished despite the model’s small size.
Once completed, the Metallic Nano Puzzle forms a static display piece rather than an articulated model. Its horizontal silhouette, 11.5 cm deep, offers a very different presentation from the RX-78-2 Gundam and Char’s Zaku II featured in the same Tenyo range, making it possible to bring together several icons from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series in the form of matching metal models.

Origin and background of the White Base (Lore)
The SCV-70 White Base is one of the most iconic ships in Mobile Suit Gundam. Belonging to the Pegasus class and serving with the Earth Federation Forces, it played a central role during the One Year War of Universal Century 0079. Its design enables it, in particular, to transport and deploy Mobile Suits, making it a true mobile base for the prototypes developed as part of Project V.
At the start of the series, the White Base travels to Side 7 to collect several new Federation Mobile Suits. However, an attack by Zeon forces disrupts the mission and forces many civilians and young crew members to take on responsibilities for which they were unprepared. In particular, Bright Noa eventually takes command of the ship, whilst Amuro Ray becomes the pilot of the RX-78-2 Gundam.
The White Base primarily carries the RX-78-2 Gundam, the RX-77 Guncannon and the RX-75 Guntank. This ability to deploy multiple Mobile Suits makes it a priority target for Zeon. The enemy forces, who are initially unaware of its true name, nickname it the ‘Trojan Horse’ due to its unusual shape and the threat posed by the machines it carries.
The vessel is capable of fighting both in space and in the atmosphere, thanks in particular to its Minovsky Craft system. It also features several weapon systems and two main launch bays for Mobile Suits. Its design subsequently became an important benchmark for several other Federation vessels.
Throughout the One Year War, the White Base and its crew took part in numerous major engagements against Zeon’s forces and regularly crossed paths with Char Aznable. The ship thus became inextricably linked with the story of Amuro Ray and the RX-78-2 Gundam.
