Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers, Groot is a Floral Colossus from Planet X. After heroically sacrificing himself to save his friends during the battle of Xandar, his faithful companion Rocket Raccoon retrieves a small twig from his body and lovingly replants it in a pot. Against all the odds, the shoot springs to life, giving rise to a miniature, facetious version of the creature. This figurine captures the cult moment when, lulled by the nostalgic notes of the Jackson 5 song I Want You Back, the little creature comes to life and dances in secret as soon as Drax the Destroyer's back is turned.
