This impressive S.H.MonsterArts articulated figure from Bandai Tamashii Nations depicts Kaizer Ghidorah, the ultimate adversary faced by Godzilla in the final battle of *Godzilla: Final Wars*. Measuring approximately 25 cm in height, 32 cm in width and, most notably, 55 cm in length, this reproduction features particularly large dimensions to recreate the kaiju’s massive on-screen presence.

The sculpture was developed using various reference materials relating to the costume used in the film. Each of the three heads features a distinct expression, whilst the long necks, massive torso, four limbs, wings and two tails reproduce Kaizer Ghidorah’s distinctive silhouette. The surface of the body has also undergone extensive texturing to recreate its scaly, organic appearance.

The colour scheme is based on a predominantly golden hue, directly inspired by its appearance in *Godzilla: Final Wars*. Fine lines with slightly bluish undertones run across various parts of the body and are rendered through the paintwork to enhance the sculpture’s three-dimensionality. The three heads, multiple horns and large wings all contribute to the particularly spectacular silhouette of this incarnation of Ghidorah.

Despite its large size, the figure features numerous joints distributed throughout the body. Bandai has designed the articulation system to preserve the monster’s proportions whilst allowing the positions of the heads, necks, limbs and other parts of its silhouette to be adjusted. In particular, a retractable, articulated mechanism built into the abdomen allows the body to be raised to recreate the characteristic pose in which Kaizer Ghidorah raises its three heads towards the sky.

Unlike some S.H.MonsterArts releases that come with effects or interchangeable parts, this edition is supplied solely with the figure itself. Nevertheless, with a wingspan of 32 cm and a total length of 55 cm, it is a true centrepiece for a collection dedicated to *Godzilla: Final Wars* or the various incarnations of Ghidorah.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Kaizer Ghidorah appears in *Godzilla: Final Wars*, a film directed by Ryuhei Kitamura and released in 2004. He is the final and most powerful form of Monster X, the alien kaiju used by the Xilians in their attempt to conquer Earth. Monster X is itself presented as one of their ultimate weapons and finally reveals its true form during its battle with Godzilla.

Following its transformation, the creature sheds Monster X’s humanoid appearance to become a gigantic quadrupedal dragon with three long necks, three heads, two wings and two tails. Kaizer Ghidorah surpasses Godzilla in size and possesses considerable physical strength. Toho gives it a height of 140 metres and a weight of 100,000 tonnes in this incarnation.

Kaizer Ghidorah also possesses powerful gravitational abilities. His attacks enable him, in particular, to manipulate and hurl his opponents from a distance, whilst his three heads can attack simultaneously. The creature is also capable of biting its victims and absorbing their life energy, which allows it to further increase its power during combat.

In *Godzilla: Final Wars*, its confrontation with Godzilla forms the film’s climactic battle. Kaizer Ghidorah initially dominates his opponent by a wide margin thanks to his sheer mass, his three heads and his gravitational powers. This final battle establishes the creature as the culminating threat in a film that brings together numerous kaiju from different eras of the franchise.
