FLUBBER - POP & Buddy N° 1833 - Professor with Weebo with Chase

Funko brings the world of the Disney film *Flubber* to life in the POP! & Buddy collection with this duo featuring Professor Philip Brainard and his robotic assistant, Weebo. The main figure depicts the professor holding his green, stretchy creation, Flubber, whilst Weebo accompanies him as a separate Buddy figure.

The design incorporates several distinctive elements from the film: Brainard is depicted wearing his glasses and professor’s outfit, with Flubber in his hands, whilst Weebo retains his appearance as a small flying robot fitted with a screen. The Brainard figure measures approximately 10.9 cm, whilst Weebo is approximately 5.1 cm tall.

This item is sold with a chance of receiving a Chase variant. There is a 1 in 6 chance of receiving the Chase variant, in which Flubber is depicted moving forwards whilst Weebo’s camera flash is activated. Origin and character background (Lore)

Released in 1997, *Flubber* stars Professor Philip Brainard, a particularly absent-minded scientist and teacher who is working on developing a new energy source, primarily to help Medfield College. His research accidentally leads to the creation of a green substance with extraordinary elasticity and kinetic energy. Weebo identifies this material as ‘flying rubber’, a portmanteau that gives rise to the name Flubber.

Weebo is the robotic assistant created by Brainard. Endowed with a personality of her own and capable of communicating with her inventor, she accompanies him in his laboratory and plays an important role in his research. The Brainard–Weebo duo thus forms one of the central elements of the film, alongside Flubber itself.

The Chase variant makes direct reference to Flubber’s unpredictability and Weebo’s capabilities: Funko alters the scene by depicting the green substance being propelled forwards and showing the flash of light emitted by the robot as it operates.
