Origin and character background (Lore)

Vault Boy is the iconic mascot of the Vault-Tec Corporation, the company behind the famous underground vaults in the Fallout universe. He is depicted as a young, blond man who is always smiling, usually dressed in a blue and yellow jumpsuit and projecting a deliberately reassuring demeanour. Bethesda officially describes him as the Vault-Tec mascot.

In the games, Vault Boy appears notably in interfaces, skill illustrations, S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats and numerous depictions related to the perks granted to the player. His cheerful appearance deliberately contrasts with the dangers, violence and consequences of nuclear war that characterise the Wasteland, contributing to the black humour and retro-futuristic aesthetic unique to the series.

Vault Boy is therefore not a traditional protagonist of the story, but first and foremost a visual symbol of Vault-Tec and the Fallout franchise. His smile, his blue and yellow jumpsuit and his famous thumbs-up have become instantly recognisable features of the franchise, which this Barrado soft toy brings to life here in a 25 cm fabric version.
