Origin and universe of the character
Master Kaio (King Kai) is a major deity in the Dragon Ball Z manga universe, created by the legendary Akira Toriyama. King of the Northern Galaxy, he lives at the end of the perilous Snake Road on a tiny planet with gravity ten times that of Earth. It is there that he welcomes Son Goku to teach him crucial fighting techniques such as the Kaioken and the formidable Genkidama (the Energy Orb). An eccentric character and a great lover of puns, he refuses to train anyone who fails to make him burst out laughing. He spends his days in the company of Bubbles, his very lively pet chimpanzee, who acts as a training partner for visitors to test their speed and stamina before they begin learning martial arts.
