Character origin and universe
The very beginning of the Dragon Ball Z era marks a radical turning point in the series with the revelation of Son Goku’s alien origins. The plot opens with the sudden arrival of Raditz, Goku’s ruthless older brother, who has come to Earth to check whether the planet has indeed been destroyed. Faced with this overwhelming threat, Son Goku is forced to ally himself with his former sworn enemy, the demon Piccolo. It is during this desperate battle that the young Son Gohan, then just four years old and naturally shy, reveals his immense hidden potential for the first time by shattering his uncle’s armour in a fit of rage. Following Goku’s sacrifice, Piccolo decides to take the young boy under his wing and train him by force, thus laying the foundations for an inseparable and touching mentor-pupil relationship. This pack immortalises this pivotal moment that determined the future of the universe.
