Origin and background of the character
Krillin is a key character in the Dragon Ball saga, introduced in the first part of the manga as a young Buddhist monk who came to seek the teachings of the legendary Master Roshi. Initially an arrogant rival to the young Son Goku, he very quickly becomes his best friend and closest training partner on Kame House Island. Although he is a mere human amidst alien warriors and all-powerful deities, Krillin rises to become one of the strongest humans on Earth thanks to his mastery of Ki, his exemplary courage and his formidable techniques such as the Kienzan (the cutting energy disc). His unwavering loyalty and his development throughout the saga make him one of the most respected and beloved characters in Akira Toriyama’s work.
