Character background and lore
Released in cinemas in 1995 by Pixar Studios, Toy Story made cinema history by becoming the very first feature-length animated film created entirely using computer graphics. The film reveals the secret lives of toys when humans leave the room. Among the star characters in Andy’s bedroom, Slinky Dog is a true 1950s classic, combining the silhouette of a dachshund with an authentic Slinky-style metal spring for a body.
Within the group, Slinky stands out for his unwavering loyalty and absolute trust in Woody the cowboy, the room’s sheriff. His stretchy body proves to be an indispensable strategic asset during the toys’ many rescue missions, whether it’s climbing out of the window to inspect the garden or holding on to his friends as they dangle in mid-air. This figurine perfectly captures his warm, retro design, his long, flexible ears and his friendly gaze, symbolising in itself the friendship, solidarity and magical nostalgia of the Pixar saga.
