Character background and lore

Akaza is one of the main antagonists in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a member of the Twelve Demon Moons and holds the rank of Third Upper Moon, placing him amongst the most powerful demons under the command of Muzan Kibutsuji.

A specialist in hand-to-hand combat, Akaza possesses exceptional strength, speed and regenerative abilities. He uses a demonic art based on martial arts, which allows him to turn every encounter into an extremely intense duel.

He is particularly known for his battle against Kyojuro Rengoku, the Pillar of Flame, during the Infinity Train arc. This confrontation has become one of the series’ most memorable moments and plays a major role in establishing Akaza as a major adversary.

Behind his brutality, however, lies a tragic human past, which is gradually revealed as the story unfolds. This aspect adds a particular depth to the character and partly explains his obsession with strength and powerful fighters.
