Real name Wade Wilson, Deadpool is a former Special Forces mercenary who became a mutant with a superhuman accelerated healing factor following a clandestine military experiment. Characterised by his impertinence, joyful vulgarity and annoying tendency to break the fourth wall to address the public directly, he has established himself as one of the most atypical and popular characters in modern pop culture. This figure directly echoes his explosive, cynical and memorable interactions with his X-Men counterpart, Wolverine. It captures the mocking spirit of the masked hero as he appropriates his rival's legendary adamantium weapons to mock his savage temperament.
