This Funko POP! Heroes No. 658 figurine depicts Absolute Batman, the massive and radical reimagining of the Dark Knight from DC Comics’ Absolute Universe. Standing approximately 12.4 cm tall, this version captures the particularly imposing physique of this new Bruce Wayne and his instantly recognisable silhouette.

The figure depicts Batman in a dynamic pose, held aloft by a transparent stand. His costume combines a black hood and cape, a grey torso, black boots and a yellow belt. The particularly massive bat symbol is integrated into the torso, whilst the cape extends around the figure via several curved black tips, reinforcing the aggressive and unusual appearance of this incarnation.

The Chase variant features exactly the same sculpt, but replaces the main colours with a black, white and grey finish. This monochrome design accentuates the figure’s proportions and evokes the look of a black-and-white illustration. It can be identified by the ‘Chase Limited Edition’ sticker on the box.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Absolute Batman is a new interpretation of Bruce Wayne created for DC’s Absolute Universe. The Absolute Batman series begins in October 2024, written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta. Unlike the traditional Batman, this version of the hero has neither the Wayne family’s vast fortune, nor Wayne Manor, nor Alfred as his butler. DC sums up the concept precisely by asking what remains of the Dark Knight when you take away ‘the mansion, the money and the butler’.

In this reality, Bruce Wayne comes from a much more modest background. He is the son of a schoolteacher and grows up without the financial resources that usually enable Batman to develop his arsenal. DC describes him as a hero shaped both by his intelligence and by exceptional physical strength, operating mainly in Gotham’s toughest neighbourhoods rather than in the privileged circles of high society.

This new origin story is set within the Absolute Universe, a reality born in the wake of the events of the DC All In Special and the confrontation involving Darkseid. DC’s iconic heroes are reimagined within this universe based on different circumstances, whilst retaining the fundamental elements that define their identities. Absolute Batman therefore remains Bruce Wayne and retains his determination to protect Gotham, but his methods, equipment and physique have been entirely reimagined for this universe.

The character’s particularly massive appearance has become one of the series’ visual hallmarks. DC highlights, in particular, his impressive build, his oversized bat emblem and his kit, designed to function in a more brutal and versatile manner than that of the classic Batman. This POP! No. 658 directly translates this visual identity, conceived by Nick Dragotta, into Funko’s stylised format, with a monochrome Chase variant further reinforcing the link to the comic’s aesthetic.
