DC - Batman - Statue Ikigai 1/6 By Tsume 51cm

The Ikigai range by Tsume welcomes Batman with an imposing 1/6 scale collectable statue, produced under official licence from DC Comics. Standing 51 cm tall, this polyresin piece depicts the Dark Knight in a particularly vertical and dynamic pose, suspended above a setting inspired by the streets of Gotham City.

Batman is depicted in mid-motion, his body leaning forwards whilst his large midnight-blue cape billows behind him in several points. His costume comprises a grey jumpsuit, a mask and dark gloves, as well as his characteristic gold utility belt. His tense expression heightens the intensity of the scene, whilst a long cable loops around his silhouette, reinforcing the impression of aerial movement. A Batarang is also visible in his hand.

The base forms an essential part of the composition. Batman stands above an imposing Bat-Signal, whose yellow and black disc reproduces the famous bat emblem. This is set within a damaged urban environment combining elements of masonry, debris and translucent sculpted features. Several small bats complete the scene around the hero and the projector, immediately enhancing the atmosphere of Gotham. The images released are still of a prototype, so the final product may differ slightly.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Batman is the secret identity of Bruce Wayne, heir to the Wayne family and protector of Gotham City. As a child, Bruce witnessed the murder of his parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne. This event led him to devote his life to fighting crime. After years of physical and intellectual training, he adopted the identity of Batman and used the fear inspired by bats as a weapon against criminals. He first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939.

Unlike many heroes in the DC Universe, Batman possesses no superhuman powers. He relies on his combat skills, his talents as a detective and strategist, and an extensive technological arsenal. His utility belt, Batarangs, various vehicles and the facilities in the Batcave are therefore an integral part of his methods of fighting crime.

The Bat-Signal, spectacularly depicted on this statue, is one of the symbols most closely associated with the character. Installed in Gotham and notably used by Commissioner James Gordon, this powerful spotlight projects Batman’s emblem into the sky whenever the Dark Knight’s intervention is required. Tsume uses it here as a genuine architectural feature of the plinth: Batman emerges above the searchlight, cape unfurled and cable in motion, in a composition that brings together several of the hero’s historic visual motifs.
