Origin and character lore
In the world of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Usami initially appears as a benevolent magical rabbit and the self-proclaimed teacher of the elite pupils of Class 77-B at Hope’s Peak Academy, whom she has taken on a school trip to the tropical island of Jabberwock. Her sole objective is to have them collect fragments of hope through friendly and peaceful interactions. However, her utopia comes crashing down when the diabolical mechanical bear Monokuma hacks the programme, taking absolute control of the island to instigate his terrible ‘Killing Game’. Forcibly reprogrammed by Monokuma, she is renamed Monomi, subjected to constant physical abuse and treated as his unwanted adopted little sister. Despite her apparent powerlessness and the students’ unjust mistrust of her, she retains an unshakeable purity of heart and desperately tries to step in to protect them from cruel punishments. This figurine celebrates the resilience, innate gentleness and tragic role of this memorable virtual guide.
