Rediscover the retro world of SEGA with this Console Heroes – Mega Drive Console Boss Sonic 1 set. Inspired by the legendary Mega Drive console, this collector’s set takes the form of a miniature console that opens up to reveal a dedicated display area for the iconic heroes and villains of SEGA games. The set also includes an exclusive diorama based on the first Sonic the Hedgehog.
Once opened, the console reveals shelves and a grid-patterned backdrop where several small figurines can be displayed.
The console can then be closed and a Console Heroes cartridge inserted into its top slot to replicate the appearance of a real Mega Drive. A storage tray capable of holding up to six additional cartridges is also included. The set is compatible with other Console Heroes diorama cartridges sold separately, allowing you to gradually expand the display scene.
Sonic the Hedgehog made his debut in 1991 in the game of the same name on the Mega Drive, the founding instalment of the entire franchise. From this very first adventure, the blue hedgehog stood out for his speed, whilst the game developed an identity based on fast-paced levels, varied gameplay mechanics and a vibrant visual style. Sonic would go on to become one of SEGA’s most iconic characters.
In this first instalment, Dr Eggman captures the animals of South Island and transforms them into robots as part of his plans, whilst searching for the powerful Chaos Emeralds. Sonic sets out to free the animals and prevent the scientist from achieving his aims, establishing as early as 1991 the rivalry that would become one of the central themes of the entire saga.
The exclusive diorama included with this Console Heroes box set directly references Labyrinth Zone, where Sonic faces off against Eggman in his Eggmobile. The product thus transforms a confrontation from the first game into a small three-dimensional scene, whilst using the shape of the Mega Drive as a display stand to celebrate more broadly the legacy of SEGA’s 16-bit era games.
