Character background and lore

Meguru Bachira is one of the strikers selected to take part in the Blue Lock project, a programme aimed at developing a centre-forward capable of becoming a leading figure in Japanese football. Aged 17 at the start of the anime, he joins Team Z, where he meets Yoichi Isagi, amongst others. His main weapon is his dribbling, which he employs in a free-flowing, creative style that is particularly difficult to anticipate.

Ever since childhood, Bachira has imagined a ‘monster’ that symbolises his ideal football and drives him to seek out teammates capable of understanding his instinctive style of play. His journey at Blue Lock gradually leads him to move beyond this reliance and develop his own vision of the game. The football perched on his head in this piggy bank is therefore a particularly fitting symbol for a character whose technical mastery and love of dribbling lie at the heart of his identity.
