AVENGERS DOOMSDAY - Doctor Doom - Mug Heat Change

AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY – Doctor Doom – Heat-reactive mug

Bring Doctor Doom to life when the mug is exposed to heat with this Avengers: Doomsday thermochromic mug from Pyramid International. When cold, the mug features a sleek black finish dominated by the large ‘DOOM’ lettering, accompanied by the Marvel Studios Avengers: Doomsday logo

When the mug is filled with a hot drink, its thermochromic coating changes appearance: the interior of the ‘DOOM’ lettering gradually reveals a portrait of Doctor Doom, complete with his metallic mask, hood and distinctive green hues. As the surface cools, the design gradually returns to its original dark appearance. The product images provided by the manufacturer clearly show both the ‘Cold’ and ‘Hot’ states.

Character origin and backstory (Lore)

Victor von Doom, alias Doctor Doom, is one of the Fantastic Four’s most significant long-standing adversaries. In the Marvel comics, he is a world-class scientist, a powerful practitioner of the mystical arts and the ruler of the fictional nation of Latveria. His rivalry with Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic is one of the central themes of his story.

His appearance is inseparable from his metallic armour, his mask and his green hooded cape. Doom combines advanced technology with magic in his quest for power and control, which has led him to face off not only against the Fantastic Four, but also the Avengers and numerous other Marvel heroes. Marvel dates his first appearance to *Fantastic Four* #5 in 1962.

In *Avengers: Doomsday*, Doctor Doom plays a central role in the new showdown bringing together heroes from several universes. Disney officially describes the film as a gathering of heroes from three distinct universes, facing an existential threat, with a cinema release date set for 18 December 2026. Robert Downey Jr. is officially part of the film’s cast.

The Pyramid mug incorporates this new visual identity into its thermochromic effect: when cold, only the name ‘DOOM’ dominates the design, whilst heat reveals the character’s masked face within the letters themselves.
