Origin and backstory of the character (Lore)

Astro is the little robotic hero developed by Team Asobi and closely associated with the PlayStation universe. Prior to his full-length adventure on PS5, the character made a name for himself in ASTRO BOT Rescue Mission and ASTRO’s Playroom, the latter of which accompanied the launch of the PlayStation 5 and made use of many of the DualSense controller’s features.

In ASTRO BOT, released on PlayStation 5 in September 2024, Astro’s PS5 mothership is destroyed and his crew finds itself scattered across several galaxies. Aboard his Dual Speeder, Astro must explore more than 50 planets, rescue his crewmates and battle numerous enemies and bosses using special abilities.

The game also pays homage to PlayStation’s history: of the 300 robots to be rescued, around 150 are inspired by iconic characters from various PlayStation franchises. Astro has thus established himself as a true icon of the brand, linking his own colourful universe to several decades of video games. This Paladone bottle directly embraces this identity by transforming the little robot into a decorative motif for an everyday accessory.
