Omega Red, whose real name is Arkady Rossovich, is a Russian mutant who has become one of Wolverine and the X-Men’s recurring enemies. The character is notably associated with Soviet super-soldier programmes and the use of Carbonadium, a metal more flexible than the adamantium from which the long tentacles integrated into his arms are made. Marvel explicitly identifies Arkady Rossovich as Omega Red and directly links his whips to Carbonadium.
His relationship with Wolverine dates back to numerous confrontations stemming from Logan’s troubled past and his clandestine activities. Omega Red is notably one of the adversaries regularly featured in stories involving former secret programmes, Cold War operations and Wolverine’s fragmented memories. Marvel considers X-Men No. 4 from 1991 to be one of the character’s earliest essential stories.
In Insomniac Games’ *Marvel’s Wolverine*, Omega Red is officially listed amongst the main enemies Logan must face.
