Funko celebrates Elphaba Thropp with this POP! Deluxe figurine No. 2173, inspired by *Wicked*. This larger-scale figure depicts the future Witch of the West in a dynamic pose associated with ‘Defying Gravity’, one of the defining moments of her journey. The figure stands approximately 17.3 cm tall, making it significantly larger than a standard POP! figure.
Elphaba is recognisable by her green skin and her iconic dark outfit, adapted here to the distinctive style of the POP! collection. The Deluxe format allows for a more elaborate composition centred on the character and enhances the sense of movement.
Made from PVC/vinyl and designed for display, the figurine comes in an illustrated display box measuring approximately 16.5 × 14 × 20.5 cm. It joins the various figures dedicated to the film adaptation of Wicked and can, in particular, be displayed alongside other depictions of Elphaba and Glinda offered by Funko.
Elphaba Thropp is one of the two central characters in *Wicked* and the one who will gradually become known throughout the Land of Oz as the Wicked Witch of the West. With her green skin and exceptional magical powers, she develops a complex yet deep relationship with Glinda, whose personality and social background are initially very different from her own.
Elphaba is initially destined to put her talents at the service of the Wizard of Oz. However, she eventually turns against him when she discovers how the talking animals of Oz are persecuted and deprived of their rights. Her refusal to submit to the ruling authority leads to her banishment and her being branded the ‘Wicked Witch of the West’. Funko directly references this development in the official description of the figurine.
As the story unfolds, Elphaba lives in exile whilst continuing her fight for the Animals’ freedom and seeking to reveal the truth about the Wizard. The film *Wicked: For Good* continues this narrative, with Cynthia Erivo playing Elphaba alongside Ariana Grande as Glinda.
The name ‘Defying Gravity’ used for this POP! Deluxe figure refers to the moment when Elphaba fully embraces her own path and breaks away from the Wizard’s authority. This figure (No. 2173) therefore highlights a particularly symbolic portrayal of the character, focusing on her self-assertion and her transformation into the legendary figure known throughout Oz.
