Origin and universe of the character
First introduced in DC Comics in 1955, Krypto is the El family’s pet dog on the planet Krypton. Sent into space aboard a test rocket by Jor-El before the destruction of their homeworld, his spacecraft drifted for years before landing on Earth, where he was reunited with Kal-El (Superman). Due to his Kryptonian physiology being exposed to our yellow sun, Krypto possesses the same phenomenal abilities as Superman: superhuman strength, thermal vision, ultra-keen hearing and the ability to fly, all combined with sharp canine senses. This specific edition is linked to the modernised universe of the Superman film due for release in 2025, featuring a heroic and endearing Krypto, proudly sporting his famous red cape to battle the forces of evil.
