Origin and world of the character (Lore)
In the Duffer brothers' hit series, Will Byers is the young boy whose mysterious disappearance from Hawkins in 1983 sets the whole saga in motion. After surviving the Upside Down and the grip of the Mental Flagellant, Will goes through a complex 1985, as portrayed in season 3 and here in the "Tales from '85" collection. As his group of friends (Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Eleven) grow up and embark on their first romantic relationships, Will tries to preserve the innocence of their childhood through their Dungeons & Dragons sessions. His sensitivity and residual link to the Upside Down make him a crucial witness to the dark forces that once again threaten the city.
