Origin and character’s universe
The character Jabba the Hutt belongs to the science fiction universe of the Star Wars saga, created by George Lucas in 1977. This design is directly inspired by a famous scene cut from the original edit of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. In the original sequence filmed in the hangars of Mos Eisley, Jabba was portrayed by a massive human actor (Declan Mulholland) wearing a fur suit, before George Lucas decided to replace the scene and then digitally reinsert it in 1997 in the form of the famous giant alien gastropod. The scene depicts Jabba surrounded by his bounty hunters, having come in person to demand his money from Han Solo following the loss of his spice cargo.
