Add a spectacular touch of the Marvel universe to your bookshelf with this Spider-Man bookend by Grupo Erik. Comprising two complementary pieces, this decorative accessory showcases two generations of the famous spider-hero: Peter Parker in his classic red and blue suit, and Miles Morales in his iconic black and red outfit.
Each part reproduces a fragment of an urban setting inspired by New York. Peter Parker is depicted clinging to a light-coloured brick wall, holding a newspaper in a relaxed pose, whilst Miles Morales is climbing down a red façade covered in graffiti. The weathered pavements, wooden crates, paint splashes and varied textures enhance the diorama-like effect of the piece. The two scenes can be placed on either side of a row of books to keep them upright whilst creating a truly three-dimensional display.
Both practical and decorative, this bookend is particularly well-suited to comic books, manga, novels, art books and boxed video games. Weighing approximately 650 grams, it sits securely on a shelf, desk or in a display cabinet. It also makes a lovely gift for fans of Spider-Man, Miles Morales and the Marvel Universe.
Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Peter Parker becomes Spider-Man after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Endowed with superhuman strength and agility, able to climb walls and warned of danger by his ‘spider-sense’, he chooses to protect New York whilst trying to maintain an often turbulent personal life. His motto – that with great power comes great responsibility – has become one of the fundamental principles of the Marvel Universe.
Miles Morales is another young hero who has taken on the identity of Spider-Man. Originally from Brooklyn, he possesses abilities similar to those of Peter Parker, including, notably, optical camouflage and a bioelectric attack. His black and red costume gives him an instantly recognisable visual identity. The presence of Peter and Miles in this bookend illustrates the passing on of the Spider-Man legacy between two heroes who share the same values of courage, responsibility and protecting others.
