Origin and character background
Directly inspired by one of the most energetic recurring sketches in American television pop culture, this figurine celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the famous satirical programme Saturday Night Live. It features the whimsical Catholic schoolgirl Mary Katherine Gallagher, created and masterfully portrayed on screen by actress Molly Shannon. A hyperactive, clumsy and deeply anxious pupil at St. Monica’s School, she overcomes her lack of confidence by performing eccentric dramatic monologues and chaotic stunts in the hope of becoming an unmissable international star.
This Funko Pop! version captures her signature schoolgirl look with great graphic fidelity, characterised by her regulation school uniform, her rimmed glasses, her short hair and her iconic anxiety-stricken pose where she slips her hands under her armpits before sniffing them. An absolutely exceptional choice to enhance your display dedicated to cult figures from American television entertainment.
