Origin and background of the character
Created by Yuto Suzuki, the globally successful manga *Sakamoto Days* has quickly established itself as a mainstay of contemporary shōnen thanks to its incredibly technically masterful fight scenes and its irresistible everyday humour. The story follows Taro Sakamoto, a legendary elite assassin feared by the entire underworld, who one day chooses to give it all up for the love of his future wife. Now a peaceful, pot-bellied and serene family man, he runs a small neighbourhood convenience shop, having sworn never to kill anyone again. However, with a price on his head, he must constantly fend off waves of hitmen without breaking his promise, aided by his loyal staff. This Funko Pop! figurine celebrates this unconventional hero with Herculean strength, whilst its rare ‘Chase’ variant captures another facet of the character, much to the delight of fans and discerning collectors alike.
