CHARACTER BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
Created and portrayed by Sylvester Stallone from 1976 onwards, Rocky Balboa is a second-rate boxer from Philadelphia who became world heavyweight champion. In the 1985 filmRocky IV, his journey takes on an international and geopolitical dimension following the death in the ring of his friend and former rival, Apollo Creed. To avenge him, Rocky agrees to face the formidable Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in an unofficial fight organised on Christmas Day in Moscow. This version of the figurine highlights the film’s visual motifs, notably his boxing shorts featuring the American flag design (stars and stripes), which have become one of the franchise’s most iconic symbols.
