Origin and background of the character
Created by the renowned mangaka Rumiko Takahashi, Ranma ½ is a landmark of Japanese comics, blending absurd humour, romantic misunderstandings and martial arts battles. The story follows the adventures of Ranma Saotome, a teenager who has been rigorously trained by his father, Genma. During a training trip to China to the cursed springs of Jusenkyo, Ranma falls into the ‘Spring of the Drowned Girl’. Ever since that day, he has been the victim of a unique curse: he instantly transforms into a girl upon contact with cold water, and only regains his normal boyish appearance through contact with hot water. This Funko Pop! figure accurately captures the hero’s retro and charismatic design, forming an essential pairing alongside the Shampoo figure to recreate the lively atmosphere of the Tendo dojo.
