PUSHEEN - Sushi Roll - Sushi Set

Add a touch of kawaii to your meals with this official Pusheen sushi set from the Sushi Roll collection, designed by Grupo Erik. The set includes a rectangular ceramic plate, a small round dish – ideal for soya sauce – and a pair of wooden chopsticks. The set features a pastel pink colour scheme accompanied by humorous illustrations depicting Pusheen as various Japanese specialities.

The main plate features the words ‘Sushi Every Day’ above three miniature versions of Pusheen inspired by tuna, salmon and omelette nigiri. The Pusheen logo completes the design at the bottom. The small bowl, meanwhile, features an illustration of Pusheen as tempura, whilst the wooden chopsticks discreetly bear the character’s name.

The plate measures approximately 21.5 x 14.5 cm. The small bowl has a diameter of 7.5 cm and a height of 3 cm, whilst the chopsticks are approximately 18 cm long. Grupo Erik states that both ceramic items are dishwasher and microwave safe.

With its compact size and design entirely dedicated to Pusheen, this set can be used to serve sushi, maki, sashimi or other small Asian dishes, whilst also serving as a decorative kitchen accessory for fans of the character.

Origin and character background (Lore)

Pusheen is a grey tabby cat created by Claire Belton and Andrew Duff. She first appeared online in 2010 in a series of short comics before quickly gaining popularity thanks to illustrations, animated GIFs and stickers shared on the internet and social media. Pusheen Corp. officially describes the character as a round, cheerful cat whose adventures are largely inspired by the little pleasures of everyday life.

Food plays a particularly important role in Pusheen’s humorous world. The character is regularly depicted as pastries, fruit, dishes or culinary specialities, giving rise to numerous themed collections. The Sushi Roll range continues this tradition by directly merging Pusheen’s silhouette with different types of sushi.

The set therefore draws on one of the brand’s signature visual motifs: transforming Pusheen into food whilst retaining her face, stripes and rounded silhouette. The three nigiri on the plate and the tempura version in the small bowl extend this light-hearted, gourmet aesthetic in an item intended, this time, for actual use at the table.
